About Me

About Me

Hi! I’m Kenny Eckstein-Schoemann. It’s great to meet you. I am a senior at the University of North Florida, majoring in Fine Arts, with a focus on painting and drawing. Since I could pick up a crayon, I’ve loved drawing. This includes many comics and cartoons about my favorite vegetable character, Flame N Spice. Since I started college, I’ve expanded my repertoire to painting and drawing and have found that I enjoy both media as much as I do comics and cartoons.

Curatorial Mission/ Manifesto Statement

Art touches everything in our lives. From designing architecture to creating a formula for medication, art impacts every subject in mankind. As a curator, I will present art that anyone can relate to. The images of an art piece are like a voice and I will use curation as my artistic voice. I will use my curatorial vision to let go of traditional preconceptions and to offer a unique perspective, telling my story as I see it. To accomplish this, I will use a concept known as “Self-Refraction”, which uses reality as inspiration to create an introspective work of art. Our inner thoughts that evolve as we experience life can manifest themselves in real or abstract images. No two people “see” the world the same way. We bring our life experiences when viewing the world whether they be positive or negative, which influence how we perceive it. I will use art to distort ‘reality’ by emphasizing or exaggerating aspects of the image to reflect my inner thoughts or Mind’s Eye. When I view the real image, my mind reflects on past experiences and changes the image to express my introspective image. With these real and abstract aspects working together in my pieces, I hope you see a glimpse of my view of the world and that it adds and builds on your view of the world.
